White Karahi Chicken Recipe

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or cooking oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)


  1. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, fresh cream, ginger, garlic, and all the spices (cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt).
  2. Heat ghee or cooking oil in a deep pan or karahi over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until it changes color and is almost cooked through.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
  6. Add sliced green chilies and cook for another 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
