Sinigang Recipe Chicken

Sinigang is a traditional Filipino soup known for its sour and savory flavors. This sinigang recipe with chicken is a delicious twist on the classic dish. The combination of tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and tangy tamarind broth makes for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into serving pieces
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind soup base
  • 1 cup string beans, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup radish, sliced
  • 1 cup kangkong (water spinach) leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Sauté the onions, tomatoes, and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until lightly browned on all sides.
  3. Pour in the water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
  4. Remove any scum that rises to the surface of the broth.
  5. Add the tamarind soup base and stir well to dissolve.
  6. Add the string beans and radish to the pot and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Finally, add the kangkong leaves and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your sinigang chicken soup!
