  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions: How to Cook Shan Butter Chicken

  1. In a large bowl, combine yogurt, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. In a large skillet or pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Return the chicken to the pan and stir to coat with the tomato mixture. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and stir well to combine. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  7. Season with salt to taste. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
  8. Serve the Shan Butter Chicken hot with rice or naan bread. Enjoy!
