Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes

  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

  1. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken drumsticks and thighs to the bowl, making sure they are fully coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off.
  6. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, making sure it is fully coated.
  7. Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry the chicken in batches if necessary.
  8. Cook the chicken for about 8-10 minutes per side, or until it is golden brown and crispy. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
