Chicken Nihari is a traditional Pakistani dish that is rich in flavor and spices. It is a slow-cooked stew made with tender chicken and a blend of aromatic spices. This dish is perfect for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself to a hearty and delicious meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons Nihari masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoons ginger, julienned
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons fried onions (for garnish)
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are lightly browned.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the Nihari masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt with a little water to form a paste.
  5. Add the spice paste to the pot and cook for a few minutes, stirring well to coat the chicken evenly.
  6. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
