Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Discard any excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the sauce mixture to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly with the sauce.
