Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Discard any excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium and add the sauce mixture to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly with the sauce.
  8. Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the top of the chicken
