  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until well coated.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-6 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer.
  4. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly with the honey sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the chicken is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
