Lancaster County Chicken BBQ is a delicious and flavorful dish that originates from the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. This recipe combines tender chicken with a tangy and sweet barbecue sauce, resulting in a mouthwatering meal that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Place the chicken breasts on the preheated grill, skin side down. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Flip the chicken breasts and brush the tops with the prepared barbecue sauce. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  6. Flip the chicken breasts once more and brush the other side with more barbecue sauce. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
