Kosher Fried Chicken Recipe

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying


  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off.
  3. Coat the chicken in the flour mixture, pressing it firmly to adhere.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil, skin side down, and fry for about 12-15 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
