- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup ghee or clarified butter
- A handful of fresh mint leaves
- A handful of fresh coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a large pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies to the pan. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- In a small bowl, mix together the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Add this spice mixture to the pan and stir well to
