- 1 lb of firm white fish fillets (such as cod or halibut)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions: How to Cook Fish Jerky
- Begin by slicing the fish fillets into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika to create the marinade.
- Place the fish strips in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each strip is coated evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the fish strips from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange the strips on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not touching.
- Bake the fish strips in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until they are dried and slightly chewy. Check on them periodically and rotate the baking sheet if needed.
- Once the fish jerky is done, let it cool completely before storing in an airtight container for up to a week. Enjoy your homemade fish jerky as a snack or protein boost!
