Prep time: 20 minutes Cook time: 4 hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of firm white fish fillets (such as cod or halibut)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions: How to Cook Fish Jerky

  1. Begin by slicing the fish fillets into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika to create the marinade.
  3. Place the fish strips in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each strip is coated evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  4. Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Remove the fish strips from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Arrange the strips on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not touching.
  6. Bake the fish strips in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until they are dried and slightly chewy. Check on them periodically and rotate the baking sheet if needed.
  7. Once the fish jerky is done, let it cool completely before storing in an airtight container for up to a week. Enjoy your homemade fish jerky as a snack or protein boost!
