Chicken tikka biryani is a flavorful and aromatic dish that combines tender chicken tikka with fragrant basmati rice. This classic Indian dish is perfect for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself to a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into tikka pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon chopped mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon saffron strands, soaked in 2 tablespoons warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon ghee

Instructions:

  1. Wash the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. In a bowl, combine the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the chicken tikka pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  4. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.
