Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package round dumpling wrappers

Instructions: How to Cook Chicken Shumai

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, green onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, then pleat and pinch the edges together to seal the dumpling. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Place the shumai in a steamer lined with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Steam the dumplings for about 8-10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Serve the chicken shumai hot with soy sauce, chili oil, or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
