Chicken Shorba Recipe

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions: How to Cook Chicken Shorba

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook until onions are translucent.
  3. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  4. Stir in coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Add carrots, potatoes, and green peas. Simmer for another 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
