  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  1. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, making sure they are fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

  4. Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.
  5. Dip each chicken piece into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.
  6. In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding the pot.
  8. Fry the chicken for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
