Chicken Rezala Recipe


Chicken rezala is a delicious and aromatic dish that originated in the Mughlai cuisine of Bengal.   • 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cashews, soaked in water
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons ghee or clarified butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


  1. In a blender, grind the soaked cashews into a smooth paste. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Heat ghee in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
