Chicken Kulambu Recipe

Chicken Kulambu is a delicious South Indian curry that is bursting with flavors of aromatic spices and tender chicken pieces. This dish is perfect to serve with steamed rice or roti for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1-inch ginger, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions: How to Cook Chicken Kulambu

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in minced ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Cook for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Mix well.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  6. Add the chicken pieces and mix well to coat with the spices.
  7. Pour in the coconut milk and season with salt. Cover and cook on low heat until the chicken is tender.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
  9. Enjoy the Chicken Kulambu hot with rice or roti!
