Chicken Kasha Recipe

  • 2 pounds of chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish


  1. In a large bowl, mix together yogurt, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, ginger paste, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and coat them well with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until it is browned on all sides.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the chicken cook for about 30 minutes or until it is tender and cooked through.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
