Chicken Inasal Recipe Air Fryer


Chicken Inasal is a popular Filipino dish known for its distinct flavor that comes from marinating the chicken in a mixture of vinegar, soy sauce, and various spices. This recipe puts a twist on the traditional grilled version by using an air fryer, resulting in juicy and flavorful chicken with a crispy skin.

  • 4 bone-in chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon annatto powder (achuete)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions: How to Cook Chicken Inasal Air Fryer

  1. In a bowl, combine vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, turmeric powder, annatto powder, salt, and vegetable oil. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and shake off any excess. Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, skin side down.
  5. Cook the chicken in the air fryer for 12 minutes. Then flip the chicken over and cook for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy.
  6. Once done, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the Chicken Inasal with steamed rice, a side of atchara (pickled green papaya), and a dipping sauce made of vinegar, soy sauce, and chili peppers.
