Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups gongura leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions: How to Cook Chicken Gongura

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  7. Add the chopped gongura leaves and green chilies. Mix well.
  8. Cover and cook on low heat until the chicken is cooked through and the gongura leaves are wilted.
  9. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
