Chicken Gongura Recipe

Gongura Chicken is a popular Andhra dish that combines the tangy flavors of gongura leaves with succulent chicken pieces. This dish is a perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and savory flavors that will leave you craving for more. It is a must-try for all chicken lovers!

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups gongura leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn slightly brown.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly with the spices.
  5. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook for about 10 minutes on low heat.
  6. Add the gongura leaves and tomato puree. Mix well and cook for another 10 minutes until the gongura leaves wilt and the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and give it a final stir.
  8. Garnish with fresh cor
