Chicken Datshi Recipe

- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 cup Bhutanese datshi cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until the onions become translucent.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Next, add the diced tomatoes and sliced green chilies to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes soften.
- In a separate bowl, mix the grated datshi cheese with turmeric powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder.
- Add the cheese mixture to the pan and stir well to combine with the chicken and vegetables.
- Cover the pan and let the chicken cook in the cheese sauce for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- Season with salt to taste and stir well.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice or traditional Bhutanese red rice.
