Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Drain any excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium and add the sauce mixture to the skillet.
  8. Cook the sauce for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  9. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly with the sauce.
