  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions: How to Cook Swiss Steak With Brown Gravy

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the round steak in the flour mixture, coating both sides.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the steak on both sides, then transfer to a baking dish.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and paprika. Bring to a simmer.
